Meet the Teacher

My name is Mr. Caldwell and I am the Interactive Media instructor. I have been teaching Interactive Media at Excel TECC since 2003. Prior to that I taught college level computer graphics, web design, video and photography at Ursuline College and the Cleveland Institute of Art. I have two college art degrees majoring in Photography. I have a BFA in Photography from the Cleveland Institute of Art and I have an MFA in Photography from Ohio University. I had minors in portrait painting and sculpture. I am a product of the pre-digital world, and have a deep knowledge of all things analog including darkroom techniques in photography and oil painting techniques. However, I began to use Photoshop (version 3) while in graduate school and seemed to have caught the digital wave just in a nick of time.

My employment history prior to teaching includes a 5 year stint as a graphic designer at Fox 8 television in Cleveland and 3 years at the Cleveland Museum of Art working in educational technology as a Distance Learning Coordinator. I have also been a freelance web designer for over a decade.

Additionally, I spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as a weather specialist and have developed a fondness for studying clouds and unusual weather patterns.

Like all Excel TECC teachers, I have watched my students do great things, have great careers, attend great colleges, and have happy lives. I don't think there is much more to ask from this job.
